They don't have Remembrance Day here or in Australia, and so even though it's the 12th here, it's the 11th back home, where all the crazy Canadians are doing their remembering.

Probably because they have Anzac Day, which is when Australia and New Zealand "became nations" during WW1 by deciding to no longer be someone else's cannon fodder.
Kind of like Armstice Day, but more specifically for them.
Armstice Day, starnegly, isn't a public holiday in the UK, though it is in many other countries. Hmmm. *wants more public holidays*
